Absen Releases Industry-First Sports LED Display Solutions White Paper

Drawing on experience from more than 65,000 projects worldwide, Absen’s new white paper sets out a practical framework for the next generation of sports venue LED display systems.

Absen has released its Sports LED Display Solutions White Paper, exploring the evolving role of LED technology in modern sports venues and the standards shaping the next generation of display systems.

As international sporting events continue to raise technical requirements and fans expect increasingly immersive experiences, LED displays have evolved beyond traditional scoreboards and information screens. They are now a core part of wider venue infrastructure, supporting fan engagement, broadcast performance and commercial opportunities.

Drawing on experience from more than 65,000 projects worldwide, including some of the most prestigious events in global sport, the white paper identifies three key forces reshaping sports venue displays: international event certification, the growing importance of the fan experience, and the increasing commercial value of digital display infrastructure.

It also outlines five core dimensions for the development of next-generation sports LED systems: image quality, reliability, compliance, openness and lifecycle value. Together, these principles address the demands of broadcast-grade performance, operational resilience, international standards, wider venue integration and long-term energy efficiency.

The white paper further explores how display requirements vary across different environments, including football stadiums, basketball arenas, ice hockey venues, aquatic centres and esports arenas, highlighting the importance of combining application-specific display technology with long-term service and support.

“Sports venues are no longer simply looking for a large LED screen. They need display systems that deliver exceptional performance, integrate with the wider venue ecosystem and provide long-term value,” said Shaun xiao, Vice President of Absen. “This white paper brings together our experience across major international sporting events to provide a practical framework for the future of sports LED display systems.”
