Absen Partners with Panasonic to Deliver the NBA’s First 4K Ultra HD Centering Video Displays
Absen Inc., the US subsidiary of leading LED display manufacturer Absen, recently announced that it worked alongside Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Company to debut the league’s first-ever 4K Ultra HD LED center hung video boards at Golden 1 Center, the new world-class indoor sports and entertainment venue in downtown Sacramento, home of NBA team the Kings.
Utilising the latest in LED technology, the Panasonic team, with support from Absen, installed over 13,000 square feet of LED video, totalling over 33 million individual LED pixels across Golden 1 Center – ensuring that fans have crystal clear views from anywhere in the arena along with immediate replays in 4K ultra HD – four times 1080 HD resolution.
“At Panasonic we recognise and are very appreciative of the support we have in working with our great suppliers, such as Absen, to provide our customers with the latest and greatest in technologies,” said Don Szczepaniak, Executive Vice President, Sensory Solutions, Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Company. “We are honoured to continue our relationship with Absen to deliver best-in-class solutions to our customers.”
The centre hung video board installed at the Kings is over 1.8 kilometres (6,000 square feet) — over seven times larger than the King’s old video board, KingsVision, at their former home at Sleep Train Arena. The eight-screen centre hung display features two side-line displays that are over five times larger than the screens currently in use.
Towering 7.3 metres (24 feet) and spanning over 25 metres (84 feet), the total length of the video board extends nearly baseline to baseline — longer than the average length of a semi-trailer truck. The ribbon featured atop the video board is 1.9 metres and wraps 76.8 metres around the centre hung structure, with the baseline displays on either end of the structure covering 8.5 metres wide by 7.5 metres high.
“We were very impressed at the fantastic array of solutions that the Panasonic team installed at the Golden 1 Center, and Absen was absolutely thrilled to contribute to the NBA’s first ever 4K ultra HD centre hung video board,” said Evan Stevens, the Key Account Manager at Absen. “The Kings’ new arena is a total revolution in the world of sports, offering fans a truly immersive experience — and the LED video displays are the epicentre of that interaction.”
Panasonic and Absen will continue to collaborate to provide fans with the spectacular experiences that they have come to expect in large sports venues across the country.
